ATICA

All-There-Is Conscious Awareness

Pronounced Ah-Tee-Kah · one T — never “Attica.”

ATICA is Angela’s method — the bridge between spirit and science, and the foundation of Happyish Humans. Its principles run through the 7 to 5 book, the 7 to 5 game, and the library.

What the letters mean

Three parts. One way of seeing.

ATICA names a way of living with intention — reconnecting to something larger than autopilot, and acting from understanding instead of reaction.

All-There-Is

The universal energy — God, Spirit, Universe — the presence that connects us. Reconnecting to that energy is reconnecting to your potential.

Conscious

Awareness over autopilot. Noticing which of the four voices is talking, and choosing not to let every thought run the show.

Awareness

Understanding your biology, psychology, and nervous system — so you can move from reaction into intentional action.

What is ATICA?

Spirit and science, side by side.

Angela created ATICA as a response to the gaps between modalities — and to the habit of excluding ideas that don’t fit a single school of thought. One of the clearest examples is the exclusion of energy talk in traditional psychiatric and therapeutic fields.

Traditional psychiatry, psychotherapy, and medicine are exceptional healing modalities; however, we have a vast variety of modalities, tools, theories, and interventions available to us, that are as (or even more) effective when it comes to healing and promoting a greater sense of wellbeing.

ATICA is a system that incorporates concepts from CBT (cognitive behavioral approaches), ACT (acceptance & commitment), DBT (dialectical behavioral approaches), mindfulness, positive psychology, nutrition, neurobiology, philosophy, sociology, logotherapy, and SFT (solution-focused approaches) along with Reiki, chakra healing, crystal healing, spirituality, and religion — to support and enhance the healing process.

The interesting thing about this eclectic mixture is that, once you look closely at their individual principles and concepts, you find similarities and connections that are not noticeable at first glance.

For example, in DBT we use the concept of the Wise Mind, which is similar to the concept of the Higher-Self in energy work. In psychotherapy we use diaphragmatic breathing for anxiety and stress — the same breathing technique used in energy healing, chakra balancing, and yoga to align energetic centers. What we call mindfulness techniques, such as guided imagery in psychotherapy, can also be called energy work and used as part of manifestation and the law of attraction.

ATICA brings concepts and tools that, in many cases, could be seen as contradictory. They are not — because they flow and interact with each other in a very organic and efficient way.

How it can look in real life

  • You can be a Christian, believe in Jesus, and still do energy work to increase your connection to God.
  • Meditation can be prayer.
  • Connecting to your wise mind or higher-self is a way to get a step closer to being the best human you can be and work on the Divine Purpose God has for you on this earth.
  • Using mindful eating to promote the release of serotonin — or exercise to promote endorphins — is a mindfulness practice, an energy-balancing practice, and a scientific, evidence-based way to promote health and wellbeing.
  • You can be a scientist, believe in research and facts, and still be open to the idea of God — and that our thoughts limit or expand the quality of our lives.
  • You can be an atheist and still be open to the fact that science has proven the existence of the Higgs Boson, or God Particle — something bigger than us, ever present, that connects us all.

A healing stew

What is a Healing Stew?

ATICA is what we like to call a “Healing Stew.” In cooking, to make a vegetable stew or a beef stew, you use ingredients that are delicious and nutritious on their own.

Carrots are full of vitamins and minerals, and they taste delicious. Potatoes, beef, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, and spices are great on their own — but when you combine them and cook them to perfection, they are not only nutritious and delicious; they comfort you, making everything just a little bit better.

Think of a chilly winter night or coming home after a long walk in the fall. You open the door and smell the stew you left cooking. You sit down, smell your food, taste it… and feel warm and cozy inside. Perhaps it reminds you of a time when you were little and had no worries — or when you were protected, loved, and taken care of.

This is what ATICA does:

It reminds you that you are not alone, that you are not powerless, and that there are things you can do to help yourself have a better human experience.

Life will never be perfect, but you do not have to be a victim of your circumstances.

You have a power inside of you that can guide you every step of the way and help you increase life satisfaction and your sense of wellbeing.

You can reconnect to the God / Spirit / Universe energy inside of you (your potential) — and ATICA is here to help you do exactly that.
