Meet Angela

Angela House, LCSW‑C

Originally from Colombia and living in the U.S. since 1991, Angela is fluent in English and Spanish. She holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Clinical Social Work — and writes like she’s sitting on the couch with you, making complex ideas easy and fun.

At her core she is a teacher. Using ATICA principles (All-There-Is Conscious Awareness), she created the 7 to 5 Game to help imperfect humans reconnect to their potential through awareness, choice, and intentional action.

Her style is direct and gentle, with humor and warmth. Happyish Humans is her home for practical psychology — always as education, not therapy or counseling.

The Happyish Humans Universe

What Happyish Humans Actually Is

English

Welcome to Happyish Humans

Español

Bienvenido a Happyish Humans

Happyish Humans is bigger than a book. Bigger than a YouTube channel. It's an entire ecosystem built around one very human question:

"What is happening inside me?"

Because most of us are asking a different question instead: "What is wrong with me?"

Why am I so emotional? Why do I overthink everything? Why can't I let things go? Why do I keep doing things I know aren't good for me? Why do I need everyone to like me? Why does one little thing ruin my whole day?

We turn those questions into verdicts about ourselves. Happyish Humans does something else with them; it gets curious instead.

Maybe your brain is trying to protect you. Maybe you learned a coping strategy that made sense at the time. Maybe something from your past is quietly steering your reaction to the present. That doesn't mean every behavior is healthy. It means there's something to understand, and once you understand it, you actually get a say in what happens next.

That's the whole foundation.

The Website: Home Base

The website is where all of it lives, and you don't need to walk in with the right vocabulary. You can walk in with a feeling.

"Why do I cry so easily?"

"Why do I overthink everything?"

"Why am I so afraid of disappointing people?"

"Why do I keep going back to people who hurt me?"

"Why can't I stop thinking about what happened three years ago?"

Or the classic: "What is wrong with me?"

The goal is to meet people where they actually are, not where they think they should be.

The Digital Library

At the center of it all: a growing library of free blogs, and they were never built to feel like a psychology textbook. They start with life, not theory.

The relationship. The argument. The text message you've read four times. The awkward conversation. The 2 a.m. spiral. The thing you said five minutes ago that you're already scheduled to replay for the next three days.

Because psychology isn't just happening in a therapist's office. It's happening in your car while you decide whether to hit send. It's happening every time you check your phone for the fifth time in a minute. It's happening the second someone says "we need to talk" and your brain starts producing a ten-episode disaster series. It's happening while you're trying to make everyone else happy and quietly forgetting that you're a person too.

Happyish Humans takes those exact moments and makes them make sense. The goal is that little flicker of recognition: "Oh. That's why I do that." Sometimes that flicker is where change actually starts.

From Understanding to Action

Here's something true about humans: we can understand a thing perfectly and still have no idea what to do with it. You can know you're overthinking and still be wide awake at 1:47 a.m. dissecting a conversation from Tuesday.

That's the gap the worksheets are built to close. They take the ideas from the blogs and hand them back to you as questions about your own life:

What happened?

What did I feel?

What did I tell myself?

What pattern showed up?

What was I trying to protect myself from?

What can I do differently this time?

This isn't a twelve-step plan for becoming a flawless human. It's simpler than that: understand what's happening, then choose one intentional next step. Progress over perfection. That's the whole method.

The 7-to-5 Book

7 to 5: A Practical Guide to Becoming a Happyish Human (Who Doesn't Cry Every Day) is the practical backbone of the method, and the 7-to-5 idea is built to be realistic rather than aspirational.

Sometimes you're at a 7. Overwhelmed, emotional, activated, thoughts racing, body reacting, brain fully convinced that every problem in your life needs solving in the next ten minutes. Someone telling you to "just calm down" is not going to land.

The goal was never a perfect 1. Maybe you just need to get from a 7 to a 5: a little steadier, a little clearer, a little more able to respond instead of react.

The book maps out triggers, emotions, inner dialogue, coping patterns, intentional action, and goals. Not a promise that life stops being hard. A map for the parts where it is.

The Four Voices

One of the most distinctive pieces of this whole universe: the Four Voices.

Because "why am I like this?" isn't always the most useful question. A better one is usually "who's talking right now?"

UNGA, the Survival Voice, is focused on keeping you safe. She's fast, reactive, and not particularly interested in nuance; if something feels dangerous, she hits the alarm first and asks questions later, if she asks them at all.

LOLA, the Trauma Voice, carries the experiences, defenses, and beliefs built by painful moments. She sometimes reacts to today as if something from years ago is happening all over again.

TATA, the Adaptation Voice, learned how to adjust, anticipate, accommodate, and keep things under control. She overthinks. She people-pleases. She tries to get everything exactly right, because somewhere along the way "getting it right" started to feel like the only way to keep things from going wrong.

AKO, the Higher Self, doesn't shame you, doesn't panic, and doesn't pretend everything's fine. She's the part of you that pauses, sees things clearly, and creates enough space to say, “Okay. Let's understand what's happening here… and decide what to do next.”

The Four Voices aren't labels or boxes; they're a language. A way to notice that different parts of you have different jobs, different fears, and different strategies. Once you can name who's talking, you stop reacting on autopilot and get something important back: the ability to choose who drives.

The Stories and Videos

This is where the universe really comes alive, and it was never meant to feel like a lecture. This is also where Happyish Coffee Break with Angie comes in: everyday stories and conversations, coffee in hand, that start with those seemingly small moments that can feel enormous on the inside.

These are stories about being human: the weird things we do, the things we don't want to admit, the moments our brains completely overreact, the relationships we can't quite figure out, the habits we know aren't helping and somehow keep repeating anyway, the questions we whisper to ourselves but never say out loud.

The psychology is in there. It just lives inside the story instead of standing in front of it. You might click because the title made you laugh. You might stay because you recognized yourself. Either way, you walk away having learned something about your own brain without ever feeling like you sat through a class.

Story first. Psychology second. Human, always.

Online Sessions

For people who want something more personal: one-on-one sessions.

Sometimes reading about a pattern isn't enough; you want to understand your pattern specifically. You want to connect what happened, what you felt, what you told yourself, how you reacted, and what you might try instead.

Sessions bring the whole framework (the 7-to-5 method, the Four Voices, the library, the worksheets) into a real conversation. The purpose is guided emotional education and insight, not a replacement for therapy or professional care when that level of support is needed.

Sometimes you need information. Sometimes you need a worksheet. Sometimes you need a book. And sometimes you need another human sitting across from you helping you make sense of the whole thing. Happyish Humans makes room for all of it.

The Resource Directory

Just as important as everything above: knowing when Happyish Humans isn't enough.

Emotional wellness isn't something one website, book, or person can fully provide. Sometimes someone needs professional treatment, a crisis resource, a support group, or a specialized service, and the website includes a curated directory built to connect people to that kind of support.

Happyish Humans can offer education, language, tools, and a place to start. Knowing when someone needs more, and helping them find the right path, is part of doing this responsibly.

Why It's a Universe

Because none of these pieces work in isolation.

You might find Happyish Humans through a video or a Happyish Coffee Break with Angie story. That leads to a blog. The blog leads to a worksheet. The worksheet introduces the 7-to-5 method. The book helps you recognize one of your Four Voices. That recognition leads to a session. The session hands you a new question. And that question becomes the next story, the next blog, the next worksheet, the next conversation.

Everything connects, and you don't have to start at the beginning. You can walk in wherever you are: curious, struggling, or just trying to figure out why your brain keeps doing that thing it does. Start there.

What This Is Really About

Happyish Humans was never about teaching people to be happy all the time, because that isn't real life.

People get hurt. Relationships end. Plans fall apart. We get triggered, we make mistakes, we disappoint people, people disappoint us. Sometimes we cry. Sometimes dinner happens standing over the kitchen sink because sitting down felt like too much emotional commitment for one Tuesday.

That's just being human.

"Happyish" doesn't mean happy every minute. It just means you can learn to understand yourself without constantly treating yourself like the problem. You can have a hard emotion without becoming it. You can have an unhealthy pattern without being a hopeless case. You can understand exactly where a behavior came from without deciding it has to stay forever. You can acknowledge your past without letting it write every chapter that comes next. And you can make progress without ever becoming perfect.

The Bigger Vision

The vision is simple: a place where people understand themselves with more compassion, more honesty, and a lot less shame. Where psychology feels accessible instead of clinical. Where emotional education feels usable instead of theoretical. Where people finally get language for the things they could never quite explain.

This was never about becoming some flawlessly healed version of yourself who wakes up at 5 a.m., meditates for forty minutes, drinks green juice, journals three pages, and never gets annoyed at anyone again. I don't know that person. I don't think I've met her.

This is about something far more realistic: learning to pause, learning to notice what's happening, learning which voice is talking, learning what your patterns are actually trying to protect you from, learning what helps and what doesn't, and then making one intentional choice.

Because awareness creates choice. Choice creates intentional action. And intentional action, repeated over time, creates real change. Not overnight. Not perfectly. But genuinely.

Welcome to Happyish Humans

It's the website. The digital library. The blogs. The worksheets. The book. The 7-to-5 method. The Four Voices. The stories, Happyish Coffee Break with Angie, and the videos. The sessions. The resource directory. And eventually, the community.

Underneath all of it sits one belief: you are not powerless.

You may not control everything that happens to you, or other people's choices, or even the first thought that pops into your head. But you can learn to understand what's happening inside you, and that understanding hands you something valuable: a choice. Maybe not a huge one. Maybe not a life-altering one. Just the next one.

And sometimes, that's enough.

Becoming a Happyish Human was never about becoming someone who stops struggling. It's about becoming someone who can struggle and still find the way forward; someone who can stand in the middle of the mess and say:

"Okay. I understand a little more now. I know what's happening. I know which voice is talking. And I know what I'm going to do next."

That's the Happyish Humans Universe.

A place to understand your mind.

A place to understand yourself.

A place to find your next step.

Happyish Humans.

Reconnecting to your potential.
